A dentist at PetExpo2023 was doing free teeth inspections so we queued up to get Riley and Kiko’s teeth looked at. We are told their teeth are in pristine condition!
Here Kiko’s “report card”:
An observation the dentist shared with us about ineffective brushing habits is the application of toothpaste with little to no brushing of teeth.
We understand how challenging brushing a dog’s teeth can be ~ so we are sharing a hack that makes our dogs love getting their teeth cleaned.
TRY COCONUT OIL
We find that brushing with coconut oil is even more effective at reversing yellow stains and mineralisation than regular dog toothpaste.
The high amount of lauric acid in coconut oil makes it antimicrobial ~ so it also helps manage bacteria that cause bad breath, tooth and gum issues.
The girls love the taste and are eager to have their teeth brushed. Kiko will be licking the side of Riley’s mouth or the other end of the toothbrush so we are confident your dogs will enjoy getting their teeth brushed with coconut oil too.
In warmer weather where coconut oil is liquid, we store the oil in a glass bottle with a pump. This makes it easier to get the oil onto a toothbrush or squirt on teeth.
In cooler weather where the coconut oil is solidified, we spoon out what we want to use and scoop up the yummy coconut cream with the bristles of the toothbrush.
Check out Riley and Kiko getting their daily coconut oil fix.
